Planning a wedding involves many important details, and one of the key aspects is ensuring that your guests have enough time to prepare and make arrangements to attend your special day. Save the dates and wedding invitations play a crucial role in providing your guests with the necessary information. In this blog post, we will guide you on when to send out save the dates and wedding invitations to ensure a smooth and well-organized wedding celebration.
Save the Dates
Save the dates are a wonderful way to give your guests sufficient warning to book time off and make necessary arrangements. These cards serve as a preliminary announcement, allowing your loved ones to mark their calendars and reserve the date for your wedding. To ensure that everyone has ample time to plan, we recommend sending out save the dates approximately 12 months before your big day - or even sooner if you’re planning a destination wedding!
Sending save the dates well in advance is particularly important if you are planning a destination wedding or if many of your guests will need to travel. By providing this early notice, you give your guests the opportunity to make travel arrangements, secure accommodations, and plan their schedules accordingly.
Wedding Invitations
Once you have sent out your save the dates, it's time to start thinking about your wedding invitations. Wedding invitations provide detailed information about the ceremony, reception, and any other events associated with your wedding day. These formal invitations should be sent out closer to the wedding date, allowing your guests to RSVP and make final arrangements.
We recommend sending out your wedding invitations 5 to 6 months before your wedding day. This timeframe strikes a balance between providing your guests with enough notice and ensuring that they have a clear idea of their availability. By sending the invitations at this time, you allow your guests to mark their calendars, make travel arrangements if necessary, and RSVP in a timely manner.
RSVPs and Finalising Numbers
RSVPs are an essential part of the wedding planning process, as they allow you to finalize your guest list and make necessary arrangements with your vendors. To ensure that you have accurate numbers for your wedding day, we recommend setting an RSVP deadline approximately 2 months before your wedding.
By setting this deadline, you give your guests enough time to respond and provide you with their attendance status. This allows you to plan seating arrangements, finalise catering orders, and make any necessary adjustments to accommodate your guests.
On the Day Stationery
In addition to save-the-dates and wedding invitations, there are other stationery items to consider, such as menu cards, place cards, table numbers and wedding signage. These items should be ordered and finalized at least four to six weeks before your wedding day to ensure timely delivery and avoid any last-minute stress.
